Our Cloud Migration Process Overview
Initial Assessment and Requirement Gathering
Empyra’s cloud migration experts will do an assessment of your current implementation, data volume, apps used, and integrations. We will look for any redundant apps, duplicate user-profiles and explore room for optimization. Will deep dive into the requirements and expectations.
Impact Analysis: We will do a detailed impact study and list out the risk factors if any.
Migration Plan: We will prepare and share a detailed migration plan along with the timelines expected. It will outline apps to be migrated, data clean-up & integrations needed, and license optimization.
Development: Output from the previous 3 steps is put into action and gets the environment ready for executing a successful migration as per the customers’ requirements.
Dry Run: A dry run is done using dummy data to see if the apps and configurations and working as intended. If any issues are identified, there will be another dry run after the issues are fixed.
Actual Migration: Migration will be completed with production data followed by thorough testing by the Empyra team.
Formal UAT: At this stage, the customers do the formal UAT and report issues if any. Usually, there will not be any major issues as we will iron out problems during the dry run. However, if any issues are identified, those will be fixed on priority.
Sign off: The migration journey is completed and Empyra provides support and training as needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
How are the apps migrated to the cloud?
We will evaluate each marketplace app and determine which ones have a path to the Cloud on a case-by-case basis. Some apps will migrate easier than others, while some apps may not be available in the Cloud altogether. If the same app is not Cloud compatible, we will work to find a Cloud app with similar functionality and transfer your data to the new app.
Can SSO be implemented on the Cloud?
Absolutely, however, there will be an additional product necessary to facilitate this – which means added cost to your organization. Atlassian Access can be trialed for 30 days prior to purchasing, but upon Go-live will need to be procured for each unique licensed user.
How much is it going to cost to migrate?
To estimate the migration cost, we need to understand the following: Size of the environment in question, apps in use and compatibility, and custom scripts used across the environment that will need manually reconfigured, to name a few. For each of our customers, we provide a free screen share assessment period that will assist us in providing you with a budgetary range for your migration.
How long will the migration take?
In short, there is no “one size fits all” with respect to a migration timeline. With that said, we can say that 90% of our migration projects take less than 6 months to be completely live in the new cloud environment, with little to no downtime during cutover. Each customer’s timeline will depend on a number of factors. Some of these determining factors are Environment access, security clearances, the volume of data, number of users & user clean-up, volume of apps and compatibility to the cloud, as well as scheduling and coordination between the customer and the vendor.
Should we expect any business disruption during the migration?
